Westward Ho! Amusements 

Westward Ho! Is a well positioned coastal town that’s only a short drive from a number of amazing amusement parks including The Big Sheep and The Milky Way, both are great day trips for the whole family. If you’d prefer to stay close to your seaside holiday home Westward Ho! arcade will transport you to a simpler time where the bright lights, cheers and sirens of game winning moments will echo down the seafront. When the weather is nice and swells up Westward ho! beach is a popular location for surfers, dog walkers and sun bathers. 

Clovelly

A small harbour village set in the hills of the Devon coastline, the picturesque cobbled main street is an unexpected delight. Make your way down the steep sloping pathway past the local pubs and cafes as the stunning view of the Bristol Channel reveals itself beyond the harbour walls. Clovelly waterfall is hidden around the corner at the foot of the village, if you make your way along the pebble beach you will find a hidden treasure for any aquatic avalanche enthusiasts. 

Dartmoor National Park

If you’re looking for remote, untouched stretches of beauty look no further than Dartmoor, home to the Ten Tours challenge and a known walker's heaven. Immerse yourself in nature and walk the trodden paths taking in the scenic views that reveal themselves before you. If you plan your day well you will come across some fantastic pubs along the way to refuel after a long day's exploration.

Sailing & Boat trips at Salcombe

South Devon is host to a number of beautiful water side villages and none are quite as stunning as Salcombe. Exploring the coast via boat is an experience you will not want to miss, a true bucket list item. The quaint harbour has a number of local guides who can offer private hire or come out with you to guide you on your journey. Take a picnic and pitch up on a small sandy beach, your own private island just for you, and look back at the charming houses and relaxing sail boats that pass by.

Surfing at Woolacombe

North Devon has recently been named the UK’s first World Surfing Reserve and Woolacombe is just one of the many beaches that offer the perfect mixing pot of tidal range, natural coastal landforms and exposure to some superb swell. If you have a cottage in Woolacombe and are looking for a great day out or manage to secure yourself a coastal holiday cottage in North Devon you’re in for a treat, great pubs and bars, plenty of surf hire or lessons and the beach is life guard protected to keep you safe.

Lambing in Goodleigh

Like the cream tea itself, farming is iconic in Devon, you will do well to visit and not see a single farm animal, tractor and smell the signs of a nearby farm. Every year a beautiful natural phenomenon takes place that is as recognisable that spring is here as the welcoming of daffodils. Lambing season is a wonderful time of year and an experience to watch and a lot of fun to feed or lay with the new born lambs. If you’re in Devon be sure to keep an eye out for the new born lambs in the field or if you have a friendly farmer in the village why not ask to visit the lambs yourself. 

Walking in Lynton and Lynmouth

The South West Coastal Path traverses its way along the coast line introducing walkers to the beautiful scenery and far reaching views the area has to offer. Cottages in Lynton and Lynmouth are well located to access all the Coastal Path has and more with stunning walks in any directions connecting to nearby tourist attractions such as Valley of the Rocks and Tarr Steps that are only a short journey away. The history of the town is a fascinating discovery and welcomes tourists every year to explore the local area and beyond. 

Exmoor Zoo

Wherever you are in the world, exploring and interacting with wildlife is a rare and special thing. Golf

There are some fantastic golf courses in Devon that will make your holiday, Saunton Golf Club is home to 2 Championship courses as well as a great driving range and thanks to it's proximity to the beach the course is playable all year round. Other great courses can be found in Westward Ho!, Barnstaple, Exmoor, Plymouth and Exeter. Do remember to check the club website to ensure you wear the appropriate clothing and able allow to play at this course, booking a tee time well in advance is advised.

Day trip to Exeter

Whilst we may not have the size of London City, Exeter is home to a vibrant high-street with many named brands, perfect for shopping trips. If shopping isn’t for you, the city is also host to two professional sports teams, Exeter Chiefs a successful rugby team and Exeter City and dogged football team will be sure to entertain you for the afternoon. With two train stations the city is well connected via public transport or if you’d prefer to drive you can park in any of the car parks with easy access to the city centre. Exeter Cathedral, in the city centre is a relaxing masterpiece of architectural beauty, slowly wander around the vast building taking in the stained glass windows and magnificent designs. There are an abundance of cafes, pubs and restaurants in the city for you to enjoy, make the most of your holiday with a trip to the city before returning to your coastal or country cottages. For any thrill seekers, Go Ape offers an elevated adventure opportunity to swing for the treetops as you manoeuvre yourself through the forest.
