Originally, an old hunting lodge, Glenuaig Lodge is a stunning four bedroom Highland cottage, and is about as remote as you can get. Situated in the very heart of the 12,000 acre Glencarron Estate in the Wester Ross region of Scotland, guests staying at this spacious pet friendly former hunting lodge hidden away in the Glenuaig Valley will need a 4x4 to actually get there. Located down a country track, its mountainous location enjoys wonderful views and is surrounded by wildlife, including red deer and soaring eagles.
Whilst the stark stone exterior and remote location might make the cottage seem a little inhospitable, the exterior belies the interior comfort and space. The lodge has been thoughtfully renovated, and where possible offers all your modern day facilities required for a comfortable stay in a period property. With two living spaces, where a cosy drawing room features a wood-burner, plenty of comfy sofas and TV and a second sitting room provides a telescope for spotting local wildlife. Both rooms enjoy the most spectacular views. There is a separate dining room, as well as a well-equipped kitchen, so dining at this secluded cottage is easy and stress-free.
The lodge comfortably accommodates up to eight guests in four bedrooms, one double and three twin bedrooms. These are serviced by two bathrooms, one fitted with a roll top bath, and the other, a handy shower room.
For anyone looking for a “get away from it all” holiday, then Glenuaig Lodge takes some beating. The cottage has its own hydro electricity system, but you’ll have no internet access or mobile reception. Set within 12,000 acres of private wilderness, it’s perfect for a walking holiday or simply relaxing. The estate also offers stalking, fishing, clay pigeon shooting and guided walks can be arranged with the owners. For day trips in the car, the estate is within easy reach of the beaches on the west coast, as well as the villages of Applecross and Plockton.
