Places to Eat in Lynton and Lynmouth

Enjoy a night off from the kitchen during your stay at one of our self-catering holiday cottages and treat yourself to a meal in village. The quaint streets are dotted with places to enjoy delicious meals, keep reading to hear about some of our favourite eateries.

The Vanilla Pod

A small yet welcoming restaurant, The Vanilla Pod is great for date night dinners or a warming coffee in the day. Serving food from brunch through dinner, pop in for a hearty Full English or go for one of the restaurant’s Mediterranean-style plates. The mezze theme continues throughout service though you can opt for a tasty Ploughman’s, a bowl of homemade soup or a special if you wish.

The Oak Room

Escape into holiday mode and savour delicious tapas at this family-friendly restaurant which sits in a gorgeous historic building opposite the Town Hall in Lynton. Sip fine wine and take your pick from the small but enticing menu offering seafood, vegetarian and locally sourced ingredients bursting with flavour. Visit for lunch or dinner and be sure to book a table so you don’t miss out. Open for lunch Thursday to Monday, and for dinner every day from July.

Nartnapa Thai Kitchen – The Cottage Inn

Treat your tastebuds to tantalisingly fresh Thai flavours at Nartnapa. With river views and traditional Asian ingredients cooked by the talented Thai chef, you will not be disappointed. The menu offers a variety of delicious dishes with ramen, curries and Indonesian Nasi Goreng to savour. With such interesting and vibrant flavours, you’ll be surprised to find such good Thai food in a quiet corner of Exmoor National Park! It’s slightly out of town but well-worth the visit for a special night.

Cracker Barrel Café

The perfect post-walk pitstop, the Cracker Barrel Café in Lynton offers warming jacket potatoes, well-filled sandwiches and traditional Devon cream teas. Sit down with all the family, including those with four-paws and devour delicious plates of food whilst sipping locally roasted coffee. Dine alfresco in the suntrap courtyard where you can lap up the warmth or cosy up inside and escape the chill. The pasties are homemade as are the scones and lots of other treats on the menu.

Charlie Friday’s Coffee Shop

Bursting with bohemian style and handfuls of character, this family and dog-friendly eatery boasts an eclectic menu with something for everyone. Friendly staff serve up coffees, drinks, and meals from brunch through ‘til late lunch with vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. Treat yourself to one of their homemade cakes and bakes and you’ll be planning your return trip to taste tomorrow’s delights! New for 2021, the Soul Food's Menu from 5.30pm on Thursday and Friday evenings. Dishes include quesadillas, Texan pork rib, Ultra slow cooked brisket in Devon ale.

Esplanade Fish Bar

When holidaying by the sea, a portion of fish and chips is a must! The Esplanade Fish Bar in Lynmouth serves up the best traditional treats which you can enjoy inside or take over the road and devour by the water. A lovely experience on a sunny day!

The Ancient Mariner

Brimming with eclectic style including a feature, full-sized torpedo, The Ancient Mariner at The Bath Hotel in Lynmouth is filled with maritime memorabilia, reminding you of your coastal location in the heart of Lynmouth. Pop in throughout the day for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks and peruse the menu of tasty dishes. The bar and restaurant offers traditional pub food served to a high standard with mini meals for younger guests and Sunday roasts with locally sourced meat and a vegan option.
