Once a bustling working farm with its own mill, traces of the past remain with the enduring presence of the water wheel. Yenworthy Cottage, dating back to 1628 and expanded in 1840, underwent a meticulous refurbishment in 2016, ensuring a luxurious and comfortable stay. Ideal for avid walkers looking to explore Exmoor with a rugged path leading from the farm to a secluded rocky beach, providing direct access to the scenic South West Coast Path.
Step into Yenworthy Cottage through its spacious porch and hallway, perfect for stowing away wellies and walking boots. The sitting/dining room offers a cozy retreat with two sofas, a wood-burner, and a dining table for six. Entertainment amenities in the living room comprise a television with Freeview, Blu-ray/DVD player, and CD player/iPod docking station. Enjoy wireless broadband throughout the property at no extra cost.
The kitchen, recently equipped with modern appliances, features a smaller dining table, extra stools, and a back door leading to an enclosed courtyard—a haven for pets to dry off or cool down. The well-appointed kitchen includes a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, a washing machine/dryer, a microwave, and an oven with a hob.
Ascending the staircase from the entrance hall, two twin bedrooms await on the first floor, along with a family bathroom boasting a newly fitted large shower. The second floor reveals a master bedroom with a King-sized bed and an en-suite offering a shower, toilet, and hand basin.
Accessed via a private drive shared with the farm and two additional holiday cottages, Yenworthy Cottage ensures a tranquil escape.
For families, a cot and high chair are available, with the cot set up in the twin bedroom and the high chair arranged upon request. Linens, towels, and blankets are provided, though beach towels for day trips should be brought along. Parking is available for two cars outside the property, with room for a third car nearby if needed. A charming footpath leads from the parking area, through a small gate, and across the garden path to the front door, inviting you to unwind in this captivating countryside haven.
Explore 13 miles of footpaths on the farm, which boasts a historical monument—an ancient Roman Fort at Old Burrow. A sanctuary for wildlife, the farm hosts four Sites of Special Scientific Interest, featuring rare butterflies, unique trees, expansive heather moorland, and striking cliff geology.
