This former stables to the old village Inn, dates back to the 1800’s, is now a lovely two bed holiday cottage, sleeping 4 people.
The Old Malt House is set in a quiet corner of Exmoor National Park, in the small village of Exton and The Old Malt House lies halfway up the steep hill to the village. Whilst Exton may be remote just 400 yards down the hill is the village of Bridgetown, which is a thriving village, with a good local pub and buses to all the major villages on Exmoor, making the cottage a great place to set up your holiday base. There is a wealth of great walks, Dunkery Beacon and Tarr Steps are only 15 minutes away by car and the charming Exmoor villages of Dulverton, Exford, Winsford and Dunster are all a bus ride away
The cottage combines the character of the original cottage and modern day facilities. There is still a lovely Inglenook fireplace, exposed beams and a working hand pump for the well that still exists under the kitchen floor.
The cottage is all on one floor with just a few steps up to the garden. The entrance is accessed via a cobled courtyard which is shared by another property and not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.
The property opens into a small area for boots and coats and then into the open plan living area, with a large sofa and two comfy chairs, plus a coffee table, 50’ smart TV and an inglenook fireplace with a wood-burner, just perfect after a long day walking the moors.
The kitchen is well equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge-freezer, washing machine, slimline dishwasher, kettle, filter coffee machine and toaster. There is a dining area with a table and chairs for 4 people to enjoy a meal.
The bedrooms can be accessed via a door at the end of the lounge, which goes into a hall from which you can access the two bedrooms and family bathroom. There is a master bedroom with a king-size bed and chest-of-draws. The twin bedroom has two full-size twin beds. The bathroom has been tastefully decorated with white wall tiles and black and white floor tiles, a stand-alone bath with overhead shower, sink and mirror and a WC.
The games room can be accessed from the kitchen and has a lovely vaulted ceiling and a table-tennis table. The garden is just a few more steps up and offers guests a beautiful private place with all day sunshine.
