Following the governments announcements this week regarding Christmas we wanted to give the following update for those with bookings over the festive season.
From December to 23rd to December 27th up to three households can form an exclusive ‘Christmas bubble.’ During this time you can only be in one Christmas bubble and it cannot be changed during the period of December 23rd to December 27th. You should not meet friends or family that are not part of your Christmas bubble.
Between December 23rd and December 27th you can travel between tiers and UK nations for the purpose of meeting your Christmas bubble. During this period you can stay overnight with people in your Christmas bubble either in a private house or private rented accommodation. You can also go to a place of worship together and meet in public outdoor spaces. You cannot meet your Christmas bubble in any other indoor setting such as a pub, restaurant, hotel or shop, where the rules are dependent on which tier you are in.
For more information on Christmas bubbles please see the government website. gov.uk/christmas-bookings
After December 27th, the rules return to the tier system, this means in England if staying in a cottage located in tier 1, up to six guests from multiple households can stay in a holiday property, if going to a tier 2 setting, a single household of any size (this can include a support bubble) are welcome. In tier 3, holiday cottages are unfortunately unable to open.
Please note that it is worth familiarising yourself with the rules for each tier on the government website. gov.uk/tier-guidance
From 00:01am on Thursday 5th November England will be back in a national lockdown, unfortunately, this means any bookings in place from this date until Wednesday 2nd December will now no longer be able to take place. We will be getting in touch with guests that are affected by the new lockdown on an arrival date basis to discuss the options available. We ask that during this busy period you do not try contacting us on the phone as the lines are very busy, instead please use the form at the bottom of the page and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
The Scottish Government has today announced new rules that will come in to affect on Monday 14th September. The new rules are that from Monday 14th it will only be possible for a maximum of six people from two households to gather either indoors or outdoors. Please note children under the age of 12 who are part of the two households are not included in the six. Single households of more than six or households that have formed a support bubble that is large than six are also exempt from the rule.
The new ruling is in affect until October 5th at the moment but could be extended.
If you think your booking will be affected by the new ruling then please do not hesitate to get in touch, the easiest way to contact us is via email as our phone lines are incredibly busy. We are working through the current bookings that will be affected by the ruling on an arrival date basis.
If your booking falls within the government lockdown, we will move your dates or offer a refund.
If your booking falls outside of the government lockdown, your holiday will proceed as normal.
If you still want to cancel your booking outside of lockdown then the normal terms of the cancellation policy will apply.
The following will apply to most, but not all, properties. Please contact us if you would like more information.
We are delighted to re-open our doors, however, the travel industry is a long way off getting back to normal, and the safety of our guests and housekeepers is our top priority. To this effect, there will be some changes to our normal operation so that the property can be thoroughly cleaned between guests, and cleaned as safely as possible.
