Planning ahead for 2018

Get ahead and tempt those early bookers for 2018. Check out our top tips to get ahead of the competition and maximise your property as a holiday let.

Although this year’s peak season summer weeks are now in full flow, it’s never too early to consider those guests looking to book for the end of the year or early for 2018.

Here are some suggestions from the team at My Favourite Holiday Cottages to help you get ahead of the game and maximise the potential of your property as a holiday let:

Photography:  It is always said that a single picture can say a 1000 words and this is so true for the holiday letting market. It is imperative that your photography accurately represents your property.  Not only do the photographs sell your property to potential bookers but they also manage guests’ expectations. Therefore, photographs of your holiday property should always be up-to-date (reflecting any changes you may have made to the property) but should also be high quality to ensure that they do showcase your property to its full advantage.

Accurate property and listing descriptions: Like the photography, the descriptions of your property need to accurately describe your property and highlight its key features. Does your property offer WiFi? Is it family friendly? Are pets welcome?  These are all important considerations for guests when choosing their ideal holiday home.

Up-to-date testimonials: With the growing number of review sites, guests won’t just take your word that your property is great. Therefore, leave a comments guest book at your property or email guests when they have left asking for feedback and make sure you capture and share these reviews.

Online marketing, calendars and pricing: More and more bookings are made online today, with many holiday cottage owners finding that the majority of enquiries and bookings are made via email or using online calendars.

Online calendars need to be kept up-to-date with the latest availability and pricing to capture all those online bookings, particularly any last-minute bookings.

In fact, 57% of bookings at My Favourite Holiday Cottages are now made on-line and the majority of enquiries are via email. Although, we still offer a customer phone line (available 6 days a week, 9am to 8pm) for those wishing to speak to someone.

As a result of this growing trend, at My Favourite Holiday Cottages we strongly believe that as online marketing is so important, we offer our all holiday property owners the opportunity to showcase their individual properties on their own bespoke website. We then invest in online advertising to drive traffic to these individual websites to generate enquiries and bookings.
