Wonderful rural setting

For more than fifteen years Lea Hill has been a haven for us, and we keep coming back because we enjoy the peace and tranquility of its wonderful rural setting and a host of easily accessible attractions. We enjoy walking along the coast from Beer to Branscombe or from Eype to Seatown and up Golden Cap, and there are plenty of very good pubs & restaurants for a lunchtime sandwich or an evening meal. The cottages are comfortable and easy to manage. Susan and Paul always make us feel welcome and we invariably return to London with our batteries recharged. Lea Hill is in an unspoilt part of Devon which we hope will remain a well-kept secret for a long time to come.

Cottage Overview

Woodpecker Cottage is one of 4 cottages at Lea Hill Cottages, close to the village of Membury, and a short drive to Axminster in the Blackdown Hills.

This one bedroom couple friendly cottage welcomes up to 4 dogs and benefits from its own private garden, as well as use of the beautiful communal gardens.
You enter the cottage via the garden into a lovely open plan living area, with plenty of countryside charm and character. Quarry-tiled throughout the ground floor, and with exposed stonework and beams, the ground floor includes a cosy dining area for two, a well-equipped kitchen with all your modern day conveniences (such as microwave, dishwasher, electric oven & hob) needed for a self-catering holiday and a comfortable living area. The living area features a sofa, armchair, TV, electric wood-burner, free WiFi and french doors, which lead out to the garden. The bathroom is also located on the ground floor and has a bath with an electric power shower overhead, wash basin and WC.

Upstairs,carpeted throughout, a pretty and well-presented double bedroom features original beams and exposed stone walls, a double bed, a wardrobe, bedside tables and a dressing table.

The garden is enclosed and sheltered. There is a small patio area, with outdoor seating and a lawned area. A lovely spot for relaxing in after enjoyable days exploring the local area. There is also a separate dog exercise field for those holidaying with their dogs.

If required, there is also a washing machine and tumble dryer available to use in the onsite shared laundry room for a modest charge.

About Axminster

Membury is a beautiful village set within the Blackdown Hills an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village dates back to the Iron Age and the old Castle ruins still have remnants of an Iron Age Forte. There is a post office and local shop plus a 13th Century church dedicated to St. John the Baptist. The village is surrounded by stunning countryside including Hawkswood and Thurlbear Wood.
