Situated in the heart of Goodleigh, a charming North Devon village set just outside Barnstaple, Magnolia View Cottage is a spacious dog and child friendly holiday home that is ideal for families and groups of friends looking to holiday together in high quality self-catering accommodation in the beautiful unspoilt Devon countryside.
Steeped in history, this Grade 2 listed 17th century traditional Devon long house is actually the second oldest cottage in Goodleigh and spent its early years as the village carpenter’s workshop. Today, it has been sympathetically renovated, stylishly presented and thoughtfully furnished throughout to offer guests a very comfortable and relaxing style in quite unique surroundings.
There is a lovely calm and tranquil feel to this wonderful spacious holiday home, where you feel you can leave the ‘stresses of normal day life’ at the front door, and enjoy a real ‘home from home’ break at any time of the year.
You enter the cottage into the main entrance hallway, that offers plenty of space to hang coats and store boots, plus under the stairs provides the perfect spot for your four legged friends to sleep (dog basket, blanket and bowl are all provided).
Turn right from the hallway into a charming comfortable living room, home to plenty of countryside character with a wood beamed ceiling, original fire hearth complete with wood-burning stove, ideal for those cooler evenings. There is also a large comfortable corner sofa, flat screen TV with Freeview and Netflix, and a good selection of books and games to provide the perfect spot for relaxing after a long day exploring.
Then, back through the main entrance hallway, there is a delightful dining room with a large table comfortably seating 8 guests and has wonderful views of the garden. There is also a working Aga and a piano. A recently renovated kitchen with a lovely butler sink, and a stable door also boasts lovely garden views and the countryside beyond. It is well-equipped with plenty of utensils and cookware and features a double electric oven with an induction hob, a coffee machine, intergrated fridge/freezer, washing machine, a small 'drinks' fridge, a coffee machine, dishwasher and microwave. It also leads into a separate ground floor shower room.
On the first floor, there are four beautifully presented bedrooms, all with lovely countryside views and a superb family bathroom. These include a double bedroom with a double bed, another double bedroom with a super king sized bed, a pretty twin room with two full size single beds and a good sized double bedroom with double bed and a TV with a DVD player.
The family bathroom features a bath, a separate shower, WC and a wash basin.
The beautiful countryside garden at Magnolia View can be accessed from the main entrance hallway or from stable door in the kitchen. It is fully enclosed, so ideal for those holidaying with young children and dogs. A lower patio decked with fairy lights, an outdoor picnic table, a BBQ provides the perfect spot to dine and relax outside whilst enjoying the pretty garden flowers and the rolling unspoilt Devon hills and countryside beyond. Obviously, the true highlight of this garden is the ancient magnolia tree. There is also a lawned area, where outside games like football goals and a swing ball have been provided
