The sleepy village of Membury dates back to the Iron Age and the castle that still stands in the town has the remains of an old Iron Age Forte. The village has a post office and shop and a church that was dedicated to St. John The Baptist in the 13th Century. The village is surrounded by stunning countryside including Hawkswood and Thurlbear Wood where you can walk for miles and hopefully see the local wildlife.
