Cuckoo Down Farm is tucked away in the beautiful Devon countryside, near the World Heritage coastline at Sidmouth. This stunning “Glamping” experience offers guest two Yurts and four Safari Lodges. This “glamping” experience offers all the fun of camping and the great outdoors but with just that bit of added comfort. There are hot showers, wood-burning stoves, sofas, rugs and double-beds, our newest Safari Tent, Blackberry even has a hot-tub.
Cuckoo Down Farm also has a small farm with animals for the guests to enjoy, there are pigs, sheep, chickens and ponies plus bluebell woods, camp fires and 30 acres of meadow to explore.
The tents all have their own kitchen and standpipe of fresh drinking water. The tents are beautifully furnished with double beds and cosy cushions. The kitchens have bottled gas stoves and crockery glassware, and cutlery are provided. The Safari tents have their own showers and the Yurts share a shower barn.
The Yurts sleep four adults or six people including children, the Safari tents can accommodate six people. There are washing machines, fridges, tumble-dryers on site and power points for recharging phones.
The children can enjoy the working farm and ride the ponies and collect the eggs. The farm does allow dogs but they must be well supervised. Hen nights and large “gatherings” are welcomed but you must book the whole site.
There are two Yurts which have a double bed and two sofa beds and accommodate 4 adults and 2 children. There are four safari tents, Primrose, Daisy and Poppy and Blackberry, each have two bedrooms a double and a twin. There is also a large living area with a sofa-bed, wood-burning stove, sofa and dining table with six chairs. Each tent has their own hot shower. The tents have a covered veranda at the front with table, chairs and bench so you sit outside and enjoy the spectacular sunsets. Blackberry tent has its own coal-fired hot-tub.
Each of the Tents and Yurts have their own compost loo, kitchen, standpipe of drinking water, campfire and wood-burning stove.
Cuckoo Down Farm is a short-drive from the beaches at Sidmouth, Beer and Branscombe and all the cliff walks around the coastline. If you would prefer visiting a country house, Killerton House is nearby and you can easily visit The Eden Project within a daytrip.
There are plenty of good places to eat; Darts Fam which is a renowned farm shop serves great food a great gastro pub, The Golden Lion on the River Otter nearby. The Jack in the Green is very highly commended.
